Broken Escalators

Just a poem I wrote after Caliper the other day (and after going down the escalator to get out of the building.) Yes, really. No, this is not a poem that actually happened. Just read it, ok? And comment.

AND yes, my inspiration for this poem were the many broken escalators at school. Enough said, just read it.

Broken Escalator
You are walking down the broken escalator. Maybe walking is the wrong word, though.
You are running, putting one foot in front of the other, faster and faster, until I'm sure you're going to fall.
You don't.
You race your invisible foe to the bottom, land lightly on the ground. You turn back to look at me. You beckon with your hand, "Come down and join me!" I look down at your smiling face, tilted up to see me.
And I find my answer.
I put one foot down, then another, walking slowly. Then I begin to run. Faster and faster, feet a blur on the steps. I keep running, and then I fall. I don't hit the ground.
Your arms outstretched, you catch me as I slip. I get back on my feet.
You place out your hand, palm up, an invitation.
I take it.
