Thunder: Prologue

Well, it was thundering outside yesterday, but that's also the title of this story. It might actually be finished this summer. Here comes the prologue.
Oh, and its a pretty typical love story, but that doesn't mean it isn't still good! =)

Thunder

Prologue

Amy Millers sat on the seat beneath her window, letting the wind sweep through her loose hair. A few stars glistened overhead, while dark rain clouds threatened to take over them. She sighed. I can't delay it any longer, can I, she thought. She reached into her jeans pocket and pulled out the slip of paper. Brian had slipped it to her at the end of the day. He had looked at her sorrowfully as he had slipped the paper into her hand, and then he had murmured "sorry" as he walked away. Amy had thought she knew what this was about. She opened the note, almost leaning out her open window. Her hair blew around her face as she slowly unfolded the note that she had delayed opening until now. She unfolded it once, and then again, and she flattened it in her hand. She sighed, and then looked down at the note. The little light from her room and the streetlamps on the street below lit the night enough for her to read the few lines Brian had written to her.

As she read the lines, over and over again, the few stars in the sky blackened out from the clouds, and it began to lightly rain. As she read, a few tears slipped from her eyes to join the raindrops falling from the sky. The note got wetter and wetter, from raindrop after raindrop, tear after tear. Soon, it followed the rain down to the ground, and it buried itself in a puddle on the ground. Amy pulled herself inside her room, closed the window, curled up on her bed, and cried.
